Environmental impacts of batteries occur in the production, distribution and end of life phases of the battery lifecycle. We emphasise to our customers the importance of returning used batteries for recycling. With the ever growing use of batteries, their disposal has become a central issue because of the effects on human health and the environment.
We are committed to reducing lead waste, controlling pollutants in water effluent and lead emissions, and using natural resources effectively. Chloride Exide Botswana is proactively involved in the collection and disposal of scrap batteries. This also helps clean the environment of hazardous substances.
The company is working towards ISO 14001:2015 environmental management certification as part of its drive to attain the highest environmental management standard. Every factory process is closely monitored to ensure that the final product complies with international standards.
